How do designers conduct research? What distinguishes their approach, and what does this mean for a library's collection? Helge Aszmoneit has headed the German Design Council Library since 1987 and has spent decades supporting designers in their research. Drawing on first-hand experience, she offers unique insights into how designers search for information and how their research practices have evolved over the years.
Founded in the 1960s, the German Design Council Library provides public access to an extensive body of design knowledge. Its holdings include nearly 20,000 books, as well as videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs, and around 40 current international journals. The historical journal collection comprises approximately 400 titles.
