This project investigates whether subjectively experienced absorption during reading is accompanied by particular eye movement patterns and can thus be "objectively" measured.
States of absorption have been shown to be an important factor in reading and enjoying literary narratives. Relatively little is known, however, about the experiential qualities and especially the physiological markers that distinguish absorbing reading experiences. Our project opens up this field by analyzing eye movements during states of absorbed reading.
