Syntax and effects of prosody in Kleist’s prose style
The project is devoted to analyzing distinctive patterns of prosodic grouping and implementing caesuras in Heinrich von Kleist’s narratives. It tests the hypothesis that Kleist’s syntax as well as his use of punctuation promotes his art of prosodic patterning, and that the special cognitive and affective effects of Kleist's prose style are largely prosody-driven.
