AReA: The Aesthetic Responsiveness Assessment
Some people respond strongly to artwork or music. Others — not so much. The AReA questionnaire is a tool that can be used by researchers in the field of empirical aesthetics to assess whether a potential study participant is likely to show strong responses to aesthetic stimuli. Consisting of 14 questions and available in both English and German, AReA is a quick tool that has a clear factor structure and has been shown to predict observer's overall aesthetic responsiveness to a wide variety of aesthetic stimuli, including artworks, music and poetry.
