Consciousness remains one of the greatest unsolved mysteries of science. How is the brain able to generate conscious experience from neural activity? My PhD research investigates these questions using computational modelling to investigate the brain connectivity changes that underlies consciousness. Using dynamic causal modelling (DCM), I will present on some of my PhD studies where I attempt to move beyond correlates of consciousness, towards a mechanistic understanding of how brain network activity underlies consciousness.
