Tessa is studying Theoretical and Applied Linguistics at the University of Pavia, Italy. She will write her Master's thesis in our group, studying whether and how we can recognize the intention of a speaker merely from his/her voice. Which acoustic features in the voice drive cross-linguistic understanding of social situations or induce misunderstandings between speakers of German and Mandarin Chinese? The study will be conducted in collaboration with Prof. Yun Nan at Beijing Normal University.
