Coronavirus Information

Important message (updated April 13, 2021)

The Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics takes the rapid spread of the Coronavirus / COVID-19 very seriously. As a precautionary measure, we have decided to cancel all public events until further notice to protect the health of our employees, guests, study participants, and visitors. Currently, there are no public lectures and workshops. The library is also closed for external visitors until further notice.

Dear Study Participants,

From April 19, 2021 on, research studies will again take place on the premises of the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics (MPIEA) and the Brain Imaging Center (BIC). For this reason, we are introducing comprehensive hygiene protocols in order to ensure the best possible protection for all Institute employees, guests, and visitors—including study participants, i.e., you—during all on-site studies.

For studies at the MPIEA (Grüneburgweg 14):

We have compiled the most important information regarding these protocols in a document.
Please read this information carefully before registering for a study.

For studies in which direct contact with the investigator cannot always be avoided (e.g. measurements with EEG, physiology or eye tracking), all participants must perform a rapid antigen self-test on site before the study begins. Information on this can be found in the document “Informationen zum Schnelltest" (German only at this point)

Important: If you have been at our institute and within 14 days fall ill and possibly test positive for Covid-19, please inform us by calling 069 8300 479 500 or by email: corona@ae.mpg.de. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

If you have any questions, please get in touch with us by e-mail (studien@ae.mpg.de)
or by phone at 069 / 8300 479 619 (Mon-Fri, 9:00–17:00).

For studies at the BIC:

It goes without saying that a comprehensive hygiene concept is also applied to our studies at the BIC. Since direct contact with the study director cannot always be avoided in studies at the BIC, all study participants must undergo a rapid antigen self-test on site before the study begins.

Please read the information for studies at the BIC and the “Informationen zum Schnelltest" (German only at this point) carefully before registering for a MEG/MRI study.

If you have any questions regarding your studies at the BIC, please get in touch with us by e-mail (bic.studien@ae.mpg.de)
or by phone at 069 8300 479-380 (MRI studies; Mon-Thu, 9:00–18:00) or 069 8300 479-382 (MEG studies; Mon–Fri, 9:00–18:00).

Some of our studies will continue to take place entirely online. We would be delighted if you wished to participate in any of these
online studies.

We look forward to hearing from you!
