Library Talks: The Emergence of Jungle in the 1990s

Jungle was a very popular music style in the 1990s. After a rather shadowy existence in the years that followed, it is now experiencing a renaissance in today's club culture. To trace the origins of jungle in 1990s Britain, we invited DJ Stretch. Not only has he been an active part of the scene ever since, but he also runs AKO Beatz, one of the scene's mainstays. In conversation with musicologist Dr. Owen Green (MPIEA), we will discuss the emergence of the genre through key tracks and personal insights. The event is held in cooperation with the Bass Saturnalia party series, which will see DJ Stretch spinning at Frankfurt's Silbergold Club later that evening.

The event will be held in English.
