Welcome Marcel Bausch!
After completing his medical degree as part of his doctoral thesis Marcel (Bausch) described correlates of subjective values in various brain regions as well as their dependence on context.
Afterwards, in the lab of Florian Mormann at the department of Epileptology in Bonn, he studied the activity of single neurons in the medial temporal lobe (such as the hippocampus) of epilepsy patients and its relationship to declarative memory. During this time he assessed how semantic concepts (such as objects or a specific person), which are represented by so called concept neurons in the human brain, become interconnected or embedded in their respective context. At the MPG he will continue his investigation of memory as it relates to context and consciousness.
